Lived Experience Speakers - Mental Health Recovery
Emma’s lived experience of mental health issues has taken on many shapes over many years. Her varied challenges have included depression, anxiety, disordered eating, PTSD and addiction. Emma’s journey has inspired her to study mental health, psychology and criminology – she currently works in mental health, holding a position as a Recovery Support Worker as well as another as Consumer Representative.
Emma is passionate about developing ways for people to connect to safe and supportive people and places, as an intrinsic way of achieving and maintaining wellness and recovery. She is committed to increasing awareness about mental illness and addictions, and importantly supporting a culture of acceptance and compassion for all people living with adversity.
Challenging common perceptions, tackling stigma, using a lived experience to inform mental health practice, maintaining wellness, disordered eating, addiction, relationships, dealing with trauma, overcoming addiction and mood disorders.
